I don't know what search screen you mean, but if you click "Search" (Menu item) it does have the J5 filter check box.

I think the 'fix' should be to make the label read "Joomla 5..." not 50 as it seems to show currently.

You may not see the J5 tag in the search results screen; you have to click on the individual extension to view its detail page - it should have the J5 tag there. I think it's a matter of space on the screen, that the J5 tag isn't shown not the fact it is missing.
E.g. if you search for Akeeba Backup, you will see it doesn't have the J5 tag in search results, but go to its detail page and you will see it does.
